ICT 2nd Blog for October

Class VI
Subject; Science

Period: 3 rd
Time: 50 minutes
Topic: Connection in Parallel and Series Circuit

The lesson on the topic connection in parallel
and series circuits was based on children’s prior experience which was done through practical activities with batteries, wires, bulb and switches in previous lesson. This lesson basically focused on the use of ICT skill, using circuit software. The lesson was successful as students had got an optimum interaction, sharing of their involvements and experiences particularly to find out the differences between parallel and series circuit connections. The students enjoyed circuit connections with the help of software, which they did not have to bear the risk of electric shock and seen satisfaction in students through the activities. The students were able to see the actual break down of circuit, if connections are made without much knowledge on circuit connection. The children could reason the hazards involved in circuit connection as they have explored adequately through this lesson.
However, few challenges were there, like time constraint, where all most all the groups could not explore the tasks within time framed. For these activities, I took around 10 minutes extra   by requesting the concerned teacher of next period. Since the school do not have IT lab I had request labtop owned by teacher colleges which I could provide one each to groups. Had students got a computer each the lesson would been more interesting and effective. In this 21st century era, our traditional methods of teaching should update with changing world. Integration of information technology in our day to day teaching had become part and parcel. Through this particular assignment on blogging I learnt various way of integrating ICT in lesson from friends post. Here after I will definitely use all your great ideas and methods. In particular, I would like to thank the tutor for organizing eye opening task which is benefiting our young students. In fact, blogging was very challenging for me as this was first time in my profession. Besides I learned a lot despite poor knowledge and regular schedule at school. Thank you all for your valuable suggestion and comments provided for the all posts I shared earlier blogging. Hope every body would comment further for this final post.
Thanks.

Use of ICT in teaching for October

Class VI
subject : Science
Time : 40 minutes
Topic; Flow of Blood in Our Body

Teaching learning materials;  A laptop each for group.

On 9th October  during 3rd period, I taught class vi science on the topic Flow of Blood in our body. Student were supposed to define pulse, differentiate pulmonary circulation ans systemic circulation.
They were also ask to tell the function pulmonary arteries and veins. The information in text is limited on the particular  topic. So I planned to use internet, to gather information by students themselves. Since our school have accesses to internet facilities , did not face network problem, however there was shortage of computers. I requested teachers to use their laptops.

Students in group  browsed internet  on blood circulation. They used the web address given in the textbook at the end of the topic. Students observed the diagram of human blood circulation and read the in information from the source. I asked groups to take note on important points to be share to other groups. later all groups shared what they got from the internet.

Students really enjoyed the lesson . On other hand students got an opportunity to explore the use of ICT in learning from various source.

ICT FOR ENHANCING READING

Date: 20/09/2019
Class: I
Subject: English
Time: 40 minutes
Topic: The Elephant’s Trunk
Teaching learning materials: Laptop and Projector

To teach this particular lesson I prepared power presentation. I inserted all pictures and scripts exactly as prescribed in the text. During normal teaching of text we provide the text to students in pair and carry out three stages of reading. Through the use of ICT I could carry out the two reading stages before and while reading more effectively.

Topic prediction and picture walk were able to carry out very easily since pictures were presented vividly on the screen. All the students could observe the pictures on story together at the same time and make prediction, what will happen in next scene of the story.

On other hand it save time and completed story within a period. Many a time students face difficult to read every words and sentences while reading. It was similar like using a big book to teach a text where all students use a single book for reading. It really helps to teach unfamiliar words in the text using visual cues.  The entire lesson went smoothly as students participated with utmost enthusiasm since it was first ICT lesson.

Teaching of Abstract Concept through ICT

 Date :7/08/2019

Class: vi
subject : Science
Time ; 40 minutes
 Topic; Photosynthesis
Teaching learning materials: Projector, laptop

Over the past year I  have observe  teachers facing difficult  to teach the concept of photosynthesis. Moreover   I too found challenging to convey information hand   this particular topic , photosynthesis.  I thought the use of ICT would be more effective to teach the topic.

For this lesson I used the picture animation of the how plants prepare their own food using carbon dioxide water and sun light. Students were able to understand how carbon dioxide from atmosphere diffuses into the leaves and water absorbed by the roots. The song on photosynthesis played to them really enjoyed the students.

Used of ICT in classroom is found time consuming and challenging, however if things are properly plan in advance, use of ICT is the most effect tool in teaching.

e book as a textbook for students

Use of in the teaching
Date: 20/8/19
Class: VI

Subject: Science

This was second round of using ict in teaching, for the month of August. I planned lesson on class VI science to teach about making “Herbarium”.  Normally students use text books in the class. For a change I did not let students refer the textbook for this particular lesson. I inform them today we will use e- book (soft copy textbook). As a preparation I downloaded the class six science textbook from the REC web.

I went in the classroom with all necessary materials like projector, laptop etc. After reaching the class, I gave instructions to fix the projector   by students themselves properly with precautions.  Moreover operation of laptop had been carried by group of students. Students enjoyed the lesson since it was first time to use textbook in soft copy in their life. They loved reading in the projector. It helped me to correct student on the spot while reading. It saved the time as I need not repeat the instructions since it shown on the screen.
Some students even suggested not bringing their textbook to school and continue to use the text in soft. They even said that it would reduce the bag load carrying the textbook every morning and evening.I informed students since the school had only one projector it’s not possible to use every day. However I promise student, will use ict time to time. In general, the lesson ended successes fully.

use of ICT in Science lesson

Use of ICT in the Teaching as Teaching Learning Materials

It was milestone in the field of teaching to use ict in my class VI science lesson. The topic was on “How Plants Adapt to Specific Habitat”. The main objective of the lesson was differentiating among mesophytes, hydrophytes, xerophytes, epiphytes and lithophytes. State the adaptive characteristics.

In the lesson   I used the ict basically to show the students the examples of each plant groups and show its adaptive features growing in different habitats. Before the lesson I browsed internet, selected best examples and saved in my smart phone. During I explained each group of plants and show pictures save in the smart phone were limited examples were provided in the text book.  It benefited a lot to covey clear information on hydrophytes and epiphytes. Student could differentiate the plant group easily and even relate the example they saw in their locality.

On other hand it saves the time and resources as I need not draw the teaching learning materials. However I took little time while showing the pictures to groups as I used only one phone. The school does not have adequate ICT facilities, it really challenging despite ict have immense impact on teaching learning. Here after I am planning to implement other ways of using ict since it is new attempt.
